The student ministries of the Africa Navigators are of strategic importance. In the first place, a large percentage of Africa’s population is young, and God is pursuing African young people in amazing ways. The energy, drive, ambition, hope, and potential of the youth make the young years the best time to influence people for Christ and to channel their energies in the right direction while they are still receptive.
Secondly, the general impact of student ministries is being felt in Africa. Those discipled by missionaries in the 1970s are now fruitful leaders at all levels of the ministry and in the wider body of Christ. Thirdly, student ministry is very often the entry point for the establishment of Navigator ministries and the basis for recruitment into other ministries.
The student ministry is found in over 40 universities and colleges and numerous high schools in all of the 26 countries where the Africa Navigators have a presence. Student ministries are starting to focus on link institutions such as Technical schools, Teacher Training Colleges and Bible schools. These institutions produce people who work in areas and amongst groups where the Navigators have not made much impact.
